Finland to take 130 refugees, mostly children, from Greece

Greece's migration ministry said Thursday Finland has agreed to take in 100 unaccompanied refugee children and 30 adults, expanding the number of European countries which have begun taking in young asylum-seekers from Greece.

COVID-19 death toll rises by 10 to 705

Ten more people infected with the novel coronavirus have died in Romania, taking the COVID-19 death toll to 705, informs on Thursday the Strategic Communication Group (GCS). Covid-19 infections at 2,591; 140 fatalities

Greek Health Ministry representative Sotiris Tsiodras on Thursday announced 15 new cases of coronavirus infections in the country, bringing the total nationwide to 2,591.

Just one infected patient died in the past 24 hours, Tsiodras said, pushing the death toll to 140.

Eurostat: Euro Area Unemployment at 7.4%

In March 2020, the month when COVID-19 containment measures began to be widely introduced by Member States, the euro area seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate was 7.4%, up from 7.3% in February 2020. The EU unemployment rate was 6.6% in March 2020, up from 6.5% in February 2020. These figures are published by Eurostat, the statistical office of the European Union.

For the last 24 hours, six people have died, two men and four women, bringing death tall to 179 since the start of epidemic.
At the same time, 1.343 patients recovered.
The Crisis Staff team said that 6.703 people were tested in the last 24 hours, and 285 patients were infected with the coronavirus until 3 pm on Wednesday.

Parliament debates gov't response to pandemic

Party leaders debated the government's response to the coronavirus outbreak in Parliament Thursday.

Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis lauded his government's response, saying it was the only one that outlawed layoffs. He said the government spent €17.5 billion to prop up incomes and companies and will spend more, when European funds are available.

Bulgarians who Traveled Abroad in March with over 50% Less

In March 2020, the trips of Bulgarian citizens abroad and visits of foreigners to Bulgaria registered a decline due to the suspension of international flights and the closure of the land borders because of the worldwide spread of the COVID-19 coronavirus, the National Statistical Institute said in a press release.

PSD: Gov't introduces coronavirus tax, issues 290,000 fines, yet performs only 175,000 tests

The Social Democratic Party (PSD) acting chairman, Marcel Ciolacu, said on Thursday that "the government has introduced the coronavirus tax", handing out "at will" as many as 290,000 fines.
