Turkey, Zambia agree to boost ties in health sector

Turkey's Health Ministry has expressed readiness to cooperate with Zambia in developing the latter's health sector, as well as to promote health tourism.

In a recent meeting between Mehmet Kılıçkaya, a top official at Turkey's International Health Services (USHAS), and Zambian envoy Joseph Chilengi, expressed willingness to boost bilateral cooperation.

Turkish Red Crescent opens new office in northern Iraq

Turkish Red Crescent on Jan. 31 opened its new office in Iraq's northern province of Erbil.

The opening ceremony was attended by Turkish Red Crescent head İbrahim Altan, Turkey's Consul General in Erbil Hakan Karacay, and other officials.

Altan said they have been carrying out relief work in Erbil since 2016.

Trabzonspor comeback to beat Beşiktaş 2-1

Trabzonspor on Jan. 31 fought hard against Beşiktaş to have a 2-1 victory in a key game in the Turkish Süper Lig.

Beşiktaş scored the opener in the minute 29 as Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar's header beat Trabzonspor goalkeeper Uğurcan Çakır at the Vodafone Park in Istanbul.

This was Aboubakar's 12th league goal in the 2020-21 season.

Beşiktaş loses Süper Lig’s top spot

Trabzonspor came from behind to beat Beşiktaş with a 2-1 in an away game on the night of Jan. 31, making the home side lose its top spot in the Turkish Süper Lig standings.

Beşiktaş scored the first goal of the game in the 29th minute when Cameroonian forward Vincent Aboubakar's header beat Trabzonspor goalkeeper Ugurcan Çakır.

Turkey's rock legend, singer, composer and television host Barış Manço is being remembered on Jan. 31, his 22nd death anniversary.

Due to the coronavirus pandemic, this year all events in his memory are being held online.

Turkey condemns terror attack in Somalian capital

Turkey's Foreign Ministry on Jan. 31 "strongly condemned" the terrorist attack in the Somalian capital Mogadishu.

In a statement, the ministry said: "We wish Allah's mercy upon those who lost their lives and a speedy recovery to the injured."

It added that Turkey will continue to stand by the government and people of Somalia in their fight against terrorism.
