Local man turns home into ‘Star Wars Museum’

A 46-year-old local man from the northwestern province of Edirne has turned his property into a museum dedicated to Star Wars, with many artifacts, toys and products affiliated to the world-renowned motion-picture series he collected in nearly three decades.

"I was only 15 when I developed a love for Star Wars," Cihat Uygun, an e-commerce entrepreneur, told Demirören News Agency.

Village muhtars come to metropolis to collect paper waste: Report

Muhtars (local heads) of many Anatolian villages come to Istanbul as seasonal workers to collect paper waste at the time of the year when they cannot earn a living with farming, according to a report by an agency affiliated with the Istanbul Metropolis Municipality.

The Istanbul Planning Agency's report showed that some 18 tons of domestic waste are collected daily in the metropolis.

5 terrorists ‘neutralized’ in northern Iraq, Syria

Security forces have "neutralized" five terrorists in northern Iraq and northern Syria, the Defense Ministry has announced.

In a statement released on Feb. 27, the ministry said that four PKK/YPG terrorists were neutralized after they opened harassing fire and attempted to infiltrate the Operation Peace Spring zone in northern Syria.

Prominent conductor dropped over Putin ties

Russian conductor Valery Gergiev was dropped by his management company over his ties to Russia President Vladimir Putin.

The 68-year-old Russian had been represented since 2020 by Munich-based Marcus Felsner, who started his own management company that year after leaving Opus3.

Rare copy of first novel by black woman donated

A rare version of a book considered the first novel published in the U.S. by a Black woman has returned to her home state of New Hampshire.

An original first edition of Harriet Wilson's " Our Nig; or Sketches From the Life of a Free Black " was recently donated to Black Heritage Trail of New Hampshire, WMUR-TV reports.

Zambian promoting Aegean province with YouTube videos

A Zambian student has won hearts in the Aegean province of Afyonkarahisar as she is promoting the city with YouTube videos she makes to earn a living.

"My real name is Chimwemwe Chita, but everybody in the town calls me 'Çita.' Many tourists come to visit Afyonkarahisar after watching my videos," the 22-year-old woman told daily Hürriyet.

Istanbul to witness snowfall again this week

Temperatures will start dropping significantly across the country as of today, and Turkey's most populous province, Istanbul, will witness snowfall once again in early March, a prominent Turkish meteorologist has said.

"A wave of rainy weather will have an impact in the western parts of the country, starting from the late hours of Feb. 28," Orhan Şen announced on his Twitter account.
