Search and rescue team succeeds UN program

An all-volunteer Turkish search and rescue team, GEA, has successfully completed a one-week assessment exercise conducted by the United Nations.

Due to this the Turkish team, which is a part of INSARAG, a U.N. network of more than 90 disaster-prone and disaster-responding countries and organizations, since 1999, has now been declared as a "light team quality assurance working group."

Ancient sculpture pieces put together

Thousands of pieces that have been unearthed during the Myra and Andriake excavations in the southern province of Antalya's Demre district are being put together.

"This work we are doing is like digging in an office. Thousands of pieces are being completed like a big ancient puzzle," said the head of excavations Professor Nevzat Çevik.

Turkish club’s doner sale turns into political crisis in Denmark

Danish People's Party (DPP), a nationalist-conservative party in Denmark, has lashed out at Turkish club Vatanspor for selling doner kebab at a stadium in Aarhus, the country's second biggest city, the daily Milliyet has reported.

"Traditionally, pork sausages are sold at Danish stadiums. This would disintegrate society," said Pia Kjaersgaard, the leader of the party.

Ferry services between İzmir, Thessaloniki to start in September

Ferry services between Türkiye's Aegean province of İzmir and the northern Greek city of Thessaloniki, a project on the table since 2011, will begin in September, a Greece-based ferry company has announced.

Athens-based company Levanta Ferries declared that a ferry named "Smyrna di Levante" would hold service once a week between the two sides of the Aegean.
