Sound bomb hits AKP bureau in southeastern Turkey

A sound bomb exploded at the ruling Justice and Development Party's (AKP) election bureau in Artuklu district in the southeastern province of Mardin on May 19. One person has been detained over the incident.

No casualties were reported after the blast hit the bureau opened by the AKP deputy Gönül Bekin ?ahkulubey as a coordination office for campaigning in Artuklu. 

James Bond's bridge in Adana to be illuminated

A project has begun to illuminate the historic Varda Railway Bridge in the southern province of Adana?s Hac?k?r? village, where some scenes of the latest James Bond movie ?Skyfall? were filmed in 2012. 

The 172-meter-long and 98-meter-high bridge was featured in the opening 15-minute act of the series? 25th film. After its appearance in the film, the bridge has become very popular. 

Turkish PM pledges high-speed train will reach Central Anatolian province

Prime Minister Ahmet Davuto?lu promised that a high-speed train will extend to the Central Anatolian province of Karaman and toward eastern Turkey, speaking during a public rally in the city on May 18. 

Davuto?lu vowed that the high-speed train will connect Karaman with the southern province of Adana and the southeastern provinces of ?anl?urfa and ??rnak. 

Seven officers arrested, three soldiers released in probe into Syria-bound intel trucks

Seven on-duty military officers were arrested on May 18 while three soldiers were released, within the investigation into the halting of Syria-bound National Intelligence Organization (M?T) trucks in January 2014.

Istanbul's second criminal court of peace decided for the arrest of seven out of 10 detained officers and soldiers on May 18.
