FM Çavuşoğlu: Turkey wants closer ties with Sri Lanka

The Turkish foreign minister on Nov. 6 said Turkey wants to develop holistic relations with Asia that has become the center of global economic power.

Inaugurating a new office of Sri Lanka's Antalya Honorary Consulate General in the town of Alanya, Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said Ankara desires to promote cooperation with Sri Lanka in fields such as economy, culture, and education.

Ukrainian envoy slams district mayor for playing Soviet song

Ukrainian Ambassador to Ankara Andrii Sybiha has slammed the Mediterranean province of Antalya's Alanya district municipality for playing Katyusha, a patriotic Soviet song, during a roving concert in the town from a bus to mark May 9 Victory Day, when the Soviets defeated Nazi Germany in 1945.

Antalya district mayors say they weren't allowed to go abroad for Moscow fair due to state of emergency

A number of district mayors from opposition parties in the Mediterranean Turkish province of Antalya have said they were not allowed to go abroad to attend a key recent tourism event in Moscow due to the ongoing state of emergency. 

Free accommodation for "one child up to 35 years of age"

The 5-star Orange County Hotel in Alanya, Turkey, has decided to offer a free accommodation for Serbian children - specifically those "up to 35 years of age."

These "children" would have to vacation there accompanied by two "adults," the hotel explained. The offer is valid for one such child. If a family has two children under 18, both will enjoy the same benefit.

Turkey's first submarine trips aim to revive tourism in Antalya

As Turkey seeks to support its tourism industry amid continued regional problems, one Antalya-based firm has hit upon a novel idea to keep people coming to the coast: A 48-seat submarine.      

Guests from around the world could soon be speeding through the Mediterranean Sea at 130 feet below the waves in "Nemo," a craft built in Finland and renovated in Spain.
