UN head 'looking forward' to discussing Paris attacks with G-20 leaders in Turkey

The world needs "cool heads" to prevail and leaders to come together, United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon has told the Hürriyet Daily News ahead of his arrival in the Turkish city of Antalya on Nov. 14 to attend the Group of 20 Summit.

The U.N. chief said he was looking forward to discussing the matter with leaders at the G-20.

G-20 governments are handing out approximately $452 billion a year to prop up the production of fossil fuels - despite pledges to phase out subsidies and prevent catastrophic climate change.

A new report by the Overseas Development Institute and Oil Change International has for the first time gathered detailed information on G20 subsidies to oil, gas and coal production.

U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an discussed climate change in a video-conference call on Nov. 6, according to the world body.

The call focused on how to achieve a successful outcome at next month's climate change conference in Paris, U.N. spokesman Stephane Dujarric told reporters in New York.
