A dramatic incident unfolded in Arlington, US, where a massive explosion shook a house after a suspect discharged a flare gun toward police executing a search warrant. The Arlington County Police Department reported the explosion in the Bluemont neighborhood on N Burlington Street.

Families of the nearly 3,000 people killed in the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, will gather at the World Trade Center site on Sunday to remember those they lost. At 8,46 a.m houses across New York City will toll their bells as a moment’s silence to mark the  instant when the first plane struck the World Trade Center’s north tower.

The FBI will participate in the investigation into the death of an unarmed black Texas college football player who was fatally shot by a white officer during a burglary call at a car dealership, a suburban Dallas police chief said on August 8.

Roy Tarpley, the former Dallas Mavericks star center whose NBA career was cut short by drug abuse, died Friday. He was 50.

Tarpley had played in Greece for Olympiakos as well as Aris and Iraklis in Thessaloniki.
