For the first two months of the winter season, the tourism sector in Bulgaria reports a growth of over 5% compared to the same period last year. There is a significant increase in visits from Italy, while tourists from Israel are about 70% fewer. Bulgarian tourists have increased by 8% during the same period.

Next week, thousands of Greek tourists are expected to visit Bulgaria during the three weekends, according to Bulgarian operators in our southern neighbor.

Today, at 2.15pm Bulgarian time an earthquake was registered on the territory of Blagoevgrad region, 3.4 kilometers west of Bansko, reported the National Institute of Geophysics, Geodesy and Geography of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS).

As of tomorrow (March 31st), 7 pm, the 14-day quarantine in the town of Bansko is canceled. The ban on entering and leaving the city is also lifted. This was ordered by Health Minister Kiril Ananiev.

А 78-year-old UK citizen was discharged from the hospital in the city of Blagoevgrad on March 27 where he was under treatment for coronavirus infection. The elderly man had tested positive for COVID-19 and was received in the hospital with mild symptoms of unilateral pneumonia, which has already been cured. 

The National Operational Headquarters proposes to quarantine the city of Bansko. This was made clear after an emergency briefing at the National Operations Headquarters.

Six villages in the area of Bansko ski resort have been without power supply for 5 days as the heavy snowfall in the area had brought down powerlines. Teams of the power distribution company are working to make repairs, reports BNT.
