In a bid to defuse tensions that have been rising since last September, Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras met with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on Saturday on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation in Beijing. Greek officials said it was a step in the right direction and that Tsipras focused on ways to improve bilateral ties.

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on May 13 held a meeting with Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras in Beijing on the sidelines of the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation organized by the Chinese government. The meeting held in the Four Seasons Hotel lasted for an hour. 

The Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras promoted an agenda of positive relations between Greece and Turkey during his meeting with the Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan this morning in Beijing.

According to some sources, the Turkish president expressed the wish to fully implement the Lausanne Treaty.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras said on Friday that China's vision to revive the Silk Road and Greece's ambition to become a regional energy, transport, commercial and cultural hub will feed off each other to the benefit of both countries.

Greek PM Alexis Tsipras landed in China, Friday accompanied by a delegation, including his wife Betty Batzana. The Greek PM, who will take part in the “Belt and Road” international Forum to start on Sunday, was greeted at the airport in a brief ceremony by Chinese officials. According to Greek government sources, Mr.

Prime minister and President-elect Aleksandar Vucic, who will start his visit to China on Saturday, says Serbia and China are "always on the same side."

While in Beijing, Vucic will have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and participate in the Forum for International Cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road strategy.

While in Beijing, Vucic will have a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping, and participate in the Forum for International Cooperation within the framework of the One Belt, One Road strategy.

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras has arrived in Beijing where he will attend the Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation with the intent of signing a memorandum of cooperation to boost Chinese investments in debt-hit Greece.

"We are strengthening strategic cooperation between Greece and China," Tsipras said in a tweet that also featured a photo taken upon his arrival.

The leaders of Turkey, Russia and China will hold a trilateral summit in Beijing this weekend on the occasion of an international conference devoted to the revival of the historic Silk Road with the purpose of enhancing economic and trade cooperation, as well as discussing regional and global issues.
