Minister of Regional Development: All the Resources of the State are used to Overcome the Damage caused by the Floods in Bulgaria

"All the institutional resources of the state are harnessed to overcome the damage caused by the floods in Western Bulgaria".

This was said by the Minister of Regional Development Andrey Tsekov and assured that the ministry he leads is ready to help with urgent repairs in the affected settlements:

Berkovitsa Dam Overflowing since Monday, No Risk for People – Mayor

The dam near Bulgaria's north western town of Berkovitsa has been overflowing since Monday but it is under observation, Mayor Dimitranka Kamenova told Focus news agency.

"There is no risk for the population of the city Berkovitsa. Together with the Deputy Mayor we are going to inspect it, so there is no need for panic," Kamenova said, Sunday.

EU To Cover 6% Of Flood Damages In Bulgaria

Bulgaria will receive EU aid, covering 6% of the value of flood damages, said caretaker PM for EU funds management Iliana Tsanova for the Darik national radio. 

According to her, the application form does not include the damages in the town of Mizia, which was flooded in August, as well as the cost of the most recent flood damages in Berkovitsa and south eastern Bulgaria. 

Floods In Burgas Region Claim Second Life

The young woman that went missing in the floods overnight in Burgas region has been found drowned, Interior Ministry Svetlozar Lazarov told the BNT public broadcaster. 

She is the second victim of the most recent floods, after a woman was found drowned in her car on the road between Burgas and Sozopol, near the Otmanli area.
