Schools and some municipal buildings in Montenegro were closed and evacuated on Wednesday in response to the latest anonymous bomb threat; they have plagued the country since the end of March.

Montenegro Suspends School Classes After Another False Bomb Alarm

The Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sport Ministry said classes were suspended in the capital Podgorica and towns including Bar, Kotor, Herceg Novi, Niksic, Berane, Danilovgrad, Kolasin, Bijelo Polje, Plav, Gusinje, Sutomore, Petrovac, and a kindergarten in the town of Mojkovac.

Interior Ministry official Zoran Miljanic said three schools in the capital, Podgorica, and one in the town of Bijelo Polje were evacuated, calling on citizens not to panic.

"A criminal complaint has been filed against Cabarkapa and the state prosecutor has stated that he offended Montenegro's reputation in a published post," the police directorate said.

On Thursday, authorities put Radovan Rakocevic from the town of Bijelo Polje in custody for 72 hours for the offence of spreading panic. Rakocevic had shared an article on Facebook from a Belgrade tabloid, Alo, which claimed that Montenegrin President Milo Djukanovic had been infected with the coronavirus.
Montenegro Greens See Red Over River Dam Project
Several dozen people in the northern Montenegrin town of Bijelo Polje rallied on Saturday against a government plan to build a dam on the Bistrica River, which the authorities have now pledged to cancel.

Another suspected gangland murder in Belgrade
The MUP also said that an investigation was underway, but did not release the name of the victim.
The local media, however, named him as Radovan Laketic, a native of Pljevlja in Montenegro.
According to N1, Laketic had been shot multiple time and died of his injuries, likely during the night. The body was discovered by passers-by on Friday morning.

Montenegro's Ruling Party Wins Local Elections
The ruling Democratic Party of Socialists, DPS, party won most votes in ten out of 12 municipalities on Sunday, but will only be able to form an administration on its own in five of them.
The preliminary results show that the DPS, run by the country's veteran leader Milo Djukanovic, secured an absolute majority in the capital Podgorica for the first time since the early 2000s.

Montenegro Deepens Defence Industry Ties to Turkey
Montenegro is set to approve an agreement on defence industry cooperation with Turkey designed to boost defence and military relations with Ankara.
The agreement, seen by BIRN, relates to the "production and trade of defence goods and services, maintenance and logistical support".
