Turkey prepares to welcome 2021 under lockdown
Turkey is set to welcome the new year under a four-day lockdown, spanning from tonight 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Jan. 4 as part of measures against COVID-19.
The authorities this month had re-introduced weekend lockdowns as well as nighttime curfews amid a spike in infections and deaths.

Historic Halicarnassus walls to come to light

Virus-related hospitalization down but severe cases rise in Turkey
COVID-19-associated hospitalization rate has been declining but severe infection care is rising in Turkey, the health minister has said.
"There has been a 32 percent decline in hospitalization over the past three days," Fahrettin Koca wrote on Twitter on Aug. 11.
Bodrum to host jazz festival in September
The International Bodrum Jazz festival will be held between Sept. 1 and 9 with the support of the Jazz Association and Muğla Metropolitan Municipality.
September was chosen for the event because July and August were already high season in the Aegean province of Muğla's Bodrum district and organizers wanted to bring an activity at the end of the tourist season.

Kittens rescued by firefighters’ artificial respiration
Kittens, rescued unconsciously from a fire in a container, came back to life thanks to the firefighters' artificial respiration and CPR intervention.
The firefighters, who intervened in a fire cardboard container of a market in the resort town of Bodrum, noticed that there were four kittens in the container.

The newest edition of the İncili (Pearly) Gastronomy Guide 2020 was launched on Feb. 25 at a ceremony held at Shangri-La Bosphorus Hotel in Istanbul, unveiling the best restaurants of Turkey.
The guide, which has become prestigious in the gastronomy world within a very short time, has been prepared in a collaboration between daily Hürriyet and porcelain maker Karaca.
