Dozens of Romanian protesters were wounded after security forces used tear gas and water cannons to disperse anti-corruption demonstrators in Bucharest on Friday night when tens of thousands of people rallied against the ruling Social Democrat Party asking for the resignation of the government.

Bucharest, Aug 10 /Agerpres/ - Over 20,000 people are protesting in front of the Government building in Victoria Square in central Bucharest.

A part of those present have repeatedly tried to force the fences put up by the gendarmerie. They have replied with tear gas and a water cannon.

Thousands of Romanian expatriates converged on central Bucharest on Friday for one of the largest rallies against the ruling Social Democrat Party since it won elections in December 2016.
