Romanian President Nominates Former EU Commissioner as new PM
Romanian President Klaus Iohannis nominated Dacian Ciolos as the Prime Minister-designate entrusted with forming the country's next government.
Ciolos served as Romania's Agriculture Minister between 2007 and 2008 and after that was nominated as Agriculture Commissioner by then European Commission President Jose Manuel Barroso, a position he held between 2010 and 2014.

Death Toll from Romanian Nightclub Fire Mounts to 44
The death toll from last week's nightclub fire in Bucharest has increased to 44 after three more people died from injuries on Sunday, the Romanian authorities said.
Doctors say some 100 wounded remain hospitalised, among them 44 in critical condition, AFP reported.

Death Toll in Romanian Nightclub Fire Rises to 38
The number of victims from the explosion and fire, which occurred at the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest last week, has risen to 38 after six of the injured passed away.
One patient died in the University Hospital of Bucharest, two in the Romanian capital's Burn Hospital and one in the Floreasca Emergency hospital on Saturday morning.

Bulgarian Nightclubs to Undergo Fire Safety Checks After Bucharest Tragedy
Bulgarian nightclubs will undergo strict fire safety checks after an explosion and fire at the Colectiv nightclub in Bucharest last week claimed the lives of 38 people and left hundreds injured.
This was announced by Nikolay Nikolov, director of the General Directorate Fire Safety and Protection of the Population.

The Central European Initiative, CEI, and the South East Europe Media Organisation, SEEMO, on Thursday awarded Aleksandra Bogdani for her professional achievements as an intrepid reporter covering complex stories of human trafficking, organised crime and child abuse, corruption and national security.
She received the CEI/SEEMO Award for Outstanding Merits.
