Sweden says Türkiye promised NATO approval 'within weeks'

Sweden's Foreign Minister Tobias Billstrom said yesterday his Turkish counterpart, Hakan Fidan, had promised that Ankara would approve Stockholm's membership of NATO "within weeks."

Türkiye and Hungary are the only NATO members yet to ratify Sweden's bid, more than 18 months after it applied for membership.

Defense cooperation to boost trade with Hungary: Minister

The cooperation in the defense industry will help Türkiye and Hungary achieve the target of boosting bilateral trade volume to $6 billion, said Industry and Technology Minister Mehmet Fatih Kacır has said.

Kacır recently paid a visit to Budapest for talks, where he met with Hungarian Defense Minister Kristf Szalay-Bobrovniczkye.

Theater chief offers to quit after Romeo and Juliet accident

Hungary's theater chief offered to resign after a balcony fall injured two actors in his Romeo and Juliet production, BBC has reported.

Júlia Szász played Juliet and Otto Lajos Horváth performed as her father Capulet during the accident on Nov. 10. The pair are in a serious but stable condition in hospital.
