The !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival celebrates its 15th anniversary this year. The festival launches today and will come to Ankara and ?zmir on March 3 and 6 The !f Istanbul Independent Film Festival will take place from Feb. 18-28 in Istanbul, and on March 3 and 6 in Ankara and ?zmir.

The 11-day Berlinale, one of the top three cinema showcases in Europe along with Cannes and Venice, kicks off with a screening of "Hail, Caesar!"George Clooney opened the Berlin film festival Feb. 11 with Europe's refugee influx in the spotlight, saying he would meet German Chancellor Angela Merkel about lending star power to help with the crisis.

As the Academy Awards draw near, Istanbul Modern Cinema will offer a taste of the "Best Foreign Language Film" candidates up for the coveted Oscar award.

"The Foreigners of the Oscars" will present a selection of films slated to compete in the 2016 Oscar race for best foreign film. 

"We ask the government to finally have a clear plan for restoring the country's cinemas," Cannes award winner Mungiu appealed to the Romanian authorities on Monday, saying he was speaking on behalf of all the country's film-makers.

The 29th edition of the annual cinema festival Kinomania will take place at the National Palace of Culture (NDK) in the Bulgarian capital of Sofia between November 12 and 29.

The festival will show some of the major winners at this year's international film festivals in Berlin, Cannes, Venice, and others.

Four people were still missing on Oct.5 after flash floods on the French Riviera killed at least 17 people over the weekend, prompting the government to declare a natural disaster in the southeastern tourist region. 

Some 5,000 homes were still without electricity on Oct.5 morning after as many as 70,000 suffered blackouts the previous evening. 

Violent storms and flooding along the French riviera killed 13 people by early Oct.4, emergency responders and local officials said, including three who drowned in a retirement home inundated when a river broke its banks.

The 14th Filmekimi (October of Films) Festival begins on Oct. 3, due to be held at four movie theaters in Istanbul before touring other cities across Turkey.

Greek director Giorgos Lanthimos appears to have definitely emerged as the country’s “fair haired boy” on the European scene, with the magazine Deadline reporting this week that he’s in contact with Kate Winslet and Emma Stone to star in his next project, called “The Favourite”.

The 14th annual Filmekimi will kick off in Istanbul on Oct 3. After the nine day festival, it will tour various Turkish cities until the end of the month Organized by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (IKSV) for the 14th time, this year?s Filmekimi will once again bring cinephiles together at several cities across Turkey.
