Fifth Edition of Chicago Folklore Festival Brings Bulgarians Closer to Home

The biggest cultural event in the Bulgarian emigrant community across the ocean happened in Chicago. This was the fifth edition of the folklore festival ''Vereya'', featuring the slogan ''Folklore is magic''.

For two days Bulgarian dance crews and singing groups celebrated as is the typical practice of the folkloric groups around Koprivshtica.

New carrier to again directly link Greece with US, Canada

A new carrier is expected to connect Greece with North America, with SkyGreece Airlines filling a void in direct connections between the east Mediterranean country with cities hosting large ethnic Greek communities.

The new carrier was founded by Greek expatriate businesspeople and is headed by Father Nikolaos Alexandris.

Turkish Airlines starts flights to San Francisco

Turkish Airlines has inaugurated flights to San Francisco, the national flag carrier said in a statement.

It is the airline's second Californian destination, and its 11th in the Americas. The airline already has services to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Boston and Montreal.

CHICAGO -- CIRSD President Vuk Jeremic has met in Chicago with Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the think-tank headed by the former Serbian official has announced.

Emanuel in the past served as chief of staff to U.S. President Barack Obama and was a founding member and Co-Chair of the Congressional Serbian Caucus.
