Berlin conductor Petrenko worried ‘no one needs us anymore’

Kirill Petrenko thought back to the spring of 2020, when his first season as chief conductor of the Berlin Philharmonic was abruptly stopped by the coronavirus pandemic.

"We all were very destroyed because at a certain point we thought no one needs us anymore," he said. "Their life goes on.

US tourist arrivals in Greece spiked in 2022

The increase in regular flights offered by US airlines to Athens and Thessaloniki has helped to greatly boost tourist flows from the USA, the American Society of Travel Agents (ASTA) for the region of Greece said in a statement on Friday.

Parade shooting suspect bought 5 weapons despite threats

A man charged Tuesday with seven counts of murder after firing off more than 70 rounds at an Independence Day parade in suburban Chicago legally bought five weapons, including the high-powered rifle used in the shooting, despite authorities being called to his home twice in 2019 for threats of violence and suicide, police said.
