29 ISIL members caught in joint op by intel, police
In a joint operation conducted by the National Intelligence Organization (MİT) and the police, 29 suspects, who were preparing to attack synagogues and churches, as well as the Iraqi Embassy in Türkiye, have been captured.
Lion mosaic latest find in Konuralp ancient city
Following the recent Alexander the Great statue that was found in September in the ancient city of Prusias ad Hypium in the Konuralp district of Düzce, where excavations have been ongoing for four years, a lion mosaic was unearthed in a room discovered during the excavations.

Number of blue-flagged beaches rises in Turkey
Turkey continues to rank third in the list of "countries with the most blue-flagged beaches" this year, with the number of blue-flagged beaches increasing from 519 to 531 currently.
Like in 2021, Spain topped the ranking, while Greece was runner-up this year. Italy and France followed Turkey in the fourth and fifth spots, respectively.

Moderate earthquake shakes Turkey’s northwest, no casualty reported
A magnitude-5.0 earthquake struck Turkey's northwestern province of Düzce, the country's disaster authority announced on Nov. 17.
The quake shook the central district of the province at 3:40 p.m. local time, according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
It occurred at a depth of 18.02 kilometers below the surface, it added.

Turkey marked the 20th anniversary of the 1999 Marmara earthquake, the worst seismic disaster in the country's recent history that killed around 18,000 people and wounded 50,000, with various commemoration events organized across the Marmara region on Aug. 17.

Winter weather grips Turkey
Turkey is continuing to struggle with bad weather conditions, as wintry snow and rain again hit parts of the country.
Many regions in Turkey, including Istanbul, the eastern Marmara region, the Aegean region and the Black Sea region, were surprised by snowfall, which continued on April 9 after snowfall swept the country on the previous night.
