Foundations for new housing to be laid in quake-hit provinces
Exactly 46 days after the devastating Feb. 6 earthquakes, the first foundations for new housing in the affected provinces were laid on March 23.
Cities see record high temperatures
Turkey is experiencing the warmest May due to hot weather front from North Africa, causing rising temperatures across the country, according to state meteorology officials.
After the weekend during which the temperatures set all-time record highs for May in Antalya, Muğla, Burdur and Isparta, temperatures hit 40 degrees Celsius on May 18 in most cities.

Turkey Rushes Aid to East After Quake Strikes
Turkish authorities said victims of the weekend quake that hit eastern Anatolia were being temporarily accommodated in sports centres, schools, tent camps and religious facilities and will soon be transferred to a proper camp, which will be built soon.

4.9-magnitude quake jolts eastern Turkey
A 4.9-magnitude earthquake on Dec. 27 jolted the eastern Turkish city of Elazığ, according to the country's disaster and emergency body.
On its website, the Disaster and Emergency Management Presidency (AFAD) said the quake occurred at 10.02 a.m. local time (0702GMT) at a depth of seven kilometers (4.3 miles), with its epicenter below the Sivrice district.
