Galatasaray defeat Lazio 1-0 in Europa League

Galatasaray beat Lazio 1-0 in the UEFA Europa League Group E match on Sept. 16. 

Lazio's Albanian goalie Thomas Strakosha scored an own goal in the 67th minute at Ali Sami Yen Sports Complex (Turk Telekom Stadium), Istanbul.

Galatasaray took the top spot with three points, while Marseille placed 2nd with one point in Group E.

Call for TV series based on Jančar’s acclaimed novel withdrawn

Ljubljana – As Slovenia is gearing up for its guest appearance at the 2023 Frankfurt Book Fair, the Culture Ministry wanted to have a mini series made based on Drago Jančar’s award-winning novel I Saw Her That Night. But Jančar has asked the ministry to withdraw the EUR 2 million call, which the ministry has done.

Blue Air announced the launch of services from its new base in northeastern Iasi, starting with next summer and is offering direct and connecting flights to over 23 destinations, according to a release of the company. Blue Air will have one Boeing 737-8-MAX at its headquarters in Iasi and will operate 8 direct flights and over 15 connecting flights in Iasi.

German-Turkish lawyer gets prize for 'civil courage'

A German-Turkish lawyer, who represented families of the Turkish victims killed by the NSU, a neo-Nazi terror group, was awarded the "Ludwig Beck Award for Civil Courage" on July 2.

Seda Başay-Yıldız, a prominent lawyer at Frankfurt Bar Association, received the award from the mayor of Wiesbaden, the state capital of Hesse, Germany.
