Greek demographics: An aging and over-the-hill population
Mainland Greece is aging alarmingly - faster than even the most dire predictions of demographers. One in three residents of the Prefectures of Arta and Evrytania is currently over 65 years old, a percentage that was expected in 2050, while in eleven prefectures of the country with a total population of 828,000 people one in four is elderly.

Young German academic buried in Crete after death from Covid-19 complication
A 42-year old German lecturer from the University of Bremen who was teaching at the University of Crete, was on Thursday buried on Crete after dying from Covid-19, the first coronavirus death at the island.
The case of Andreas Hilboll alarmed scientists as he was reportedly not suffering from any underlying health issues, as is often the case with Covid-19 fatalities.
Passenger traffic in Greek airports up 10.7 pct in Jan-Feb
Passenger traffic in Greek airports grew 10.7 pct in the first two months of 2019, totaling 4,237,786 passengers, from 3,828,882 in the corresponding period last year, the Civil Aviation Authority said in a report released on Thursday.
