Turkish center Ömer A??k and his New Orleans Pelicans broke the San Antonio Spurs? 11-game winning streak on April 15, punching their playoff ticket on the last day of the regular season.

Anthony Davis scored 31 points, pulled down 13 rebounds and blocked three shots to lead the Pelicans to a 108-103 win over the reigning NBA champions, who were storming into the post-season.

Turkish Airlines starts flights to San Francisco

Turkish Airlines has inaugurated flights to San Francisco, the national flag carrier said in a statement.

It is the airline's second Californian destination, and its 11th in the Americas. The airline already has services to Buenos Aires, Sao Paulo, Toronto, Chicago, Houston, Los Angeles, New York, Washington, Boston and Montreal.

Tennis-Tipsarevic falls in second round in Houston

HOUSTON - Serbia's Janko Tipsarevic failed to reach the quarterfinals of the ATP tournament in Houston, after losing to Colombia's Santiago Giraldo in the second round in straight sets 7-6 (7-2), 6-3 early Friday morning CET.

It took Giraldo, currently 32nd in the world rankings, an hour and a half of play to reduce Tipsarevic's head-to-head advantage to 2-1.

West downs East in record-setting All-Star Game

Oklahoma City's Russell Westbrook poured in 41 points to lead the Western Conference to a 163-158 victory over the East on Sunday in a record-setting NBA All-Star Game.
      
The total points scored in the 64th edition of the mid-season showcase surpassed last year's 163-155 Eastern Conference win for the highest-scoring NBA All-Star Game in history.
      

Liberalisation of Electricity Market to be Concluded by End of Year - MP

Delyan Dobrev, chairperson of the parliamentary Energy Committee, said that the liberalisation of the electricity market in Bulgaria should be completed in practice by the end of the year.

Dobrev explained that this will allow both businesses and individual customers to choose their supplier of electricity from among a list of 100 licensed companies.

Former US president George H. W. Bush, 90, in hospital

Former U.S. president George H. W. Bush, 90, has been admitted to a Texas hospital suffering shortness of breath, a family spokesman said Dec. 23.

"President Bush was taken by ambulance to the Houston Methodist Hospital as a precaution after experiencing a shortness of breath earlier this evening," his spokesman Jim McGrath said.
