A total of 54 Syrians, who fled from their worn-torn country and settled in Türkiye's major metropolitan city of Istanbul's Esenyurt district, have returned to safe areas in their homeland, the district's mayor has announced.

A Turkish soldier died of injuries sustained in Idlib, Syria, Turkey's Defense Ministry said early on Sept. 12.

The soldier was severely wounded on Sept. 11 in the Idlib de-escalation zone but did not survive despite the best efforts of doctors, it said.

It offered condolences to the family of the soldier, the Turkish Armed Forces, and the Turkish nation.

Turkey has expressed concern to Russian officials in Ankara over attacks in Syria's northwestern province of Idlib and the operation zone of Turkish troops deployed in northern Syria.

Turkey's presidential spokesman İbrahim Kalın and the U.S. special envoy for Syria on Dec. 2 discussed the latest developments in the region, according to an official statement.

Kalin received Joel D. Rayburn and his delegation at the presidential complex in the capital Ankara.

A Syrian graffiti artist residing in Syria's northwestern city of Idlib has paid tribute to the legendary football player Maradona, who recently died of heart failure, by drawing his image on walls of houses collapsed following the attacks by the Assad regime.

Turkish security forces have so far "neutralized" a total of 1,458 terrorists in cross-border operations since the beginning of this year, the defense minister said on May 25.

A human rights group on Thursday urged Turkish Cypriot authorities in the breakaway north of ethnically split Cyprus to release 175 Syrian migrants that it says have been kept under house arrest since their rescue from a capsized boat last month.

Four asylum seekers, injured by Greek security forces along the Turkey-Greece border, applied to the European Court of Human Rights (ECHR), state-run Anadolu Agency reported on March 16.   

Ali Cengiz Kalkan, the provincial health director of Northwestern Edirne province, told Anadolu Agency that the asylum seekers applied to the ECHR through their lawyers.

The Turkish Coast Guard has rescued 34 asylum seekers off the Aegean coast, state-run Anadolu Agency reported. 
The coast guard rescued the group of people, who were in rubber boats which had been driven to Turkish territorial waters by the Greek Coast Guard, the agency cited anonymous security sources as saying.

Turkish Foreign Ministry on March 11 summoned the Greek ambassador in Ankara over violations of Turkey's territorial waters and the detention of journalists, state-run Anadolu Agency reported.

Greece's envoy Michael-Christos Diamessis was summoned to the ministry in capital Ankara. The ministry called on Greece to end violations of the Turkish waters.
