This is one of her earliest memories. She is in Kabul, visiting her uncle's house with her mother, father and sister. At one point shots are heard outside. Everyone is hiding in the basement of the house. They spend the whole night there. When they head home the next morning, they go out into a street littered with corpses. The night before, the Taliban had passed by and shot anyone outside.

ForMin Aurescu: Only one Romanian national outside Kabul airport wants repatriation
Romania's Foreign Affairs Minister Bogdan Aurescu said on Friday that in addition to 14 Romanian nationals who arrived at the airport in Kabul, there is only one Romanian outside the airport who wants repatriation.
Fourteen Romanian nationals arrive at Kabul airport
Romania's Foreign Affairs Ministry (MAE) is reporting that 14 Romanian nationals have arrived safely at the airport in Kabul, and they will be evacuated on the next flight of a Romanian military aircraft, which is currently in Islamabad. According to MAE, the 14 Romanians are employees of a security company operating in Afghanistan.
Curfew introduced; The clock is ticking for the non-evacuated
"Members of the Afghan Islamic Emirate have introduced a curfew in Kabul and published telephone numbers in case citizens have to leave during the ban," the agencies state. The report states that the curfew will be in force until further notice.
Taliban revenge fears grow in Afghanistan
The Taliban are going house-to-house searching for opponents and their families, according to an intelligence document for the U.N. that deepened fears on Aug. 20 Afghanistan's new rulers were reneging on pledges of tolerance.

UK praises Turkey’s commitment to safeguarding Kabul airport
The U.K.'s foreign secretary praised Turkey late on Aug. 19 for helping to secure Kabul airport and said the British and Turkish governments are working closely to ensure that evacuations of their citizens as well as Afghan nationals continue safely.

Another Romanian national evacuated from Afghanistan
A second Romanian national, an employee of a NATO agency, was evacuated from Afghanistan on Thursday night by a Romanian Air Force aircraft, according to the Romanian Foreign Ministry (MAE). The Romanian had already been at the international airport in Kabul, and with him three other citizens of NATO countries were also taken over: a Bulgarian, a British and an American.
Turkey helps senior Afghan officials leave country
Turkey helped a number of senior former Afghan government officials leave the country after the capital Kabul fell to the Taliban.

As the turmoil gripped the country, Ankara made arrangements to repatriate Turkish citizens from Afghanistan.
As part of those plans, a plane belonging to Turkish Airlines was dispatched to Kabul to airlift Turkish citizens.
