Magnitude 4.6 quake strikes between Crete and Kasos

An undersea earthquake with preliminary magnitude 4.6 occurred Friday in the sea area between Crete and Kasos, the Athens Geodynamic Institute said.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.

The Athens Geodynamic Institute said the quake struck at 8.57 a.m. some 49 kilometers northwest of Kasos, at a depth of 27.5 kilometers.

A 5.3 Richter quake rattles area between Crete and Kasos

A moderate earthquake measuring 5.3 on the Richter scale shook a sea area between the islands of Crete and Kasos in the southern Aegean Sea early on Saturday.

According to the Geodynamic Institute in Athens the tremor took place at 1.34 a.m. and its epicenter was located 67 kilometers west of Kasos.
