Turkey's Çavuşoğlu talks Syria with US, Russian counterparts in Manila

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met on Aug. 6 with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov in the Philippine capital Manila during the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Regional Forum, before holding a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Rex Tillerson later in the day. 

Huge fire erupts in military zone in Turkey's Kilis

Ten soldiers were injured early on July 13 in a fire that broke out in a military area in the southern province of Kilis, the Kilis Governor's Office has said in a statement.        

It said there were no causalities in the fire and the injured soldiers, who suffered from mild smoke inhalation, have already been discharged from Kilis State Hospital.        

Turkey tops UNHCR's refugee hosting list with 2.9 million refugees

Turkey tops the list of refugee hosting countries in the world, hosting 2.9 million of the world's 65 million refugees, the U.N. High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) stated on June 20.

Most of the refugees hosted by Turkey are from Syria and Iraq, with the UNHCR putting the number of Iraqi refugees in Turkey at around 30,000. 

Turkey to hire 4,200 Turkish teachers for Syrian students

The Education Ministry plans to temporarily employ 4,200 teachers for Syrian students in Turkey to teach the Turkish language and integrate them into the education system.

Turkey-backed Syria rebels secure Dabiq area, eye al-Bab

Turkey-backed Syrian rebels seized control of nine areas, including the village of Dabiq, from the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) on Oct. 16, largely imposing border security between the Turkish towns of Kilis and Karkamış, the military said on Oct. 17, as the country's foreign minister said the next target was al-Bab.
