Conservative Logar to face liberal Pirc Musar in runoff
Ljubljana, 23 October – Anže Logar, the conservative former foreign minister, won 34% of the vote in Sunday’s presidential election in Slovenia and will face lawyer Nataša Pirc Musar in the 13 November run-off after she picked 27%. Being limited to two terms, incumbent Borut Pahor could not run again.
After 60% votes counted, Logar and Pirc Musar to face off in the runoff
Ljubljana, 23 October – Partial results after nearly 60% of votes counted put former Democrats (SDS) foreign minister Anže Logar and lawyer Nataša Pirc Musar in the second round of the presidential election. The former netted some 34% and the latter 27%.
Polling day approaches after campaign full of twists and turns
After a campaign that saw many twists and turns, Slovenians will head to the polls on Sunday to cast their vote in the presidential election although the country’s fifth president is not expected to be elected until the run-off on 13 November.
Prebilič collects enough signatures to run for president
Ljubljana – Vladimir Prebilič, a defence expert who is currently serving as Kočevje mayor, has collected enough signatures to submit his candidacy for Slovenian president, he told the press in Ljubljana on Monday. At a joint news conference with Vesna, this non-parliamentary party promoting a green agenda announced its support for Prebilič’s bid.
Pirc Musar’s bid gets boost after Kos quits, poll shows
Ljubljana – Lawyer Nataša Pirc Musar has increased her lead in the presidential race after the ruling party’s candidate Marta Kos pulled out, a poll run by the newspaper Delo on Saturday suggests. Pirc Musar gained five percentage points in a fortnight to 31% as Anže Logar, the former foreign minister, stayed at 23%.
Pirc Musar, Logar in the lead in POP TV poll
Ljubljana – Lawyer Nataša Pirc Musar and Anže Logar, the former foreign minister, are in the lead in a presidential opinion poll released by commercial broadcaster POP TV, polling at 28.7% and 25.4%, respectively. Marta Kos, the former diplomat who will run for the ruling party Freedom Movement, polled at 11.4%.

Pirc Musar tops latest Mediana poll, closely followed by Logar
Ljubljana – Lawyer and ex-Information Commissioner Nataša Pirc Musar tops the latest public opinion poll measuring support for the presidential election conducted by Mediana for the newspaper Delo. Pirc Musar has been picked by 26.1% of respondents, and is followed closely by former Foreign Minister Anže Logar.
Gynaecologist Senčar 11th to announce presidential bid
Ljubljana – Gynaecologist Sabina Senčar has joined ten hopefuls who have so far announced their presidential bids as the country will be electing a new president on 23 October. She intends to run with the support of Resni.ca, a non-parliamentary party founded amid the Covid epidemic to oppose restrictions.
Freedom Movement officially nominates Kos for president
Ljubljana – The senior coalition Freedom Movement confirmed its vice president Marta Kos as its candidate for the autumn presidential election on Wednesday. The decisions by the party’s executive committee and party council were unanimous.
RTV poll shows Pirc Musar in the lead in presidential race
Ljubljana – Lawyer and ex-Info Commissioner Nataša Pirc Musar is in the lead in the presidential race, according to a poll conducted by Mediana for public broadcaster RTV Slovenija. She enjoys the support of 23.9% of respondents and is followed by former foreign minister Anže Logar (16.6%) and Freedom Movement vice-president Marta Kos (14.4%).
