A Turkish penal court on Jan. 7 approved indictments for 108 defendants on Jan. 7, including former co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), Selahattin Demirtaş, as part of a probe into the deadly 2014 Kobane incidents across the nation.

Turkish prosecutors have prepared an indictment against 108 people, including former Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair Selahattin Demirtaş, in connection with the 2014 incidents.

Turkey's military operation against Kurdish forces in northeastern Syria forced 300,000 people to displace in eight days. This was reported today by the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights, quoted by the AFP.

"More than 300,000 civilians have been displaced since the start of the offensive," on October 9, the NGO director Rami Abdel Rahman said.

Selahattin Demirtaş, the jailed co-leader of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), has penned a letter to President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan after the latter accused him of being a "terrorist." 

In the letter publicized by his lawyers on June 10, Demirtaş stated that with his comments, Erdoğan had "proven his influence" over the case the HDP is being tried in.

Speaking at a meeting in Hamburg at the end of the G-20 summit on July 8, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has called Selahattin Demirtaş, the jailed co-chair of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), a "terrorist."

"We don't have the authority to release terrorists from jail," Erdoğan said in a press conference, upon a reporter's question regarding "Demirtaş and Kurdish lawmakers."

Figen Yüksekdağ, the former co-chair and lawmaker of the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP), appeared at court on July 4 for the first time since her arrest on Nov. 4, 2016.

An Ankara court sentenced 18 people to life in prison for their involvement in the murder of four young people, including teenager Yasin Börü, during unrest in 2014 between supporters of the outlawed Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) and the Islamist Free Cause Party (HÜDA-PAR) in the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.

Kurdish issue-focused Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) spokesperson and Kars deputy Ayhan Bilgen was released on Jan. 29 after being briefly detained by police in the Turkish capital Ankara.

Bilgen tweeted about his detention and said he was told he would be taken to the southeastern province of Diyarbakır.
