Bulgaria Insists On Full Membership In The Schengen Area
Interior Minister Kalin Stoyanov participated today in a tripartite meeting with the interior ministers of Austria and Romania - Gerhard Karner and Catalin Predoiu, at which he introduced them to Bulgaria's position for full Schengen membership, the Ministry of the Interior announced.
Goodyear Slovenija completes €94 million expansion
The Kranj-based tyre maker Goodyear Slovenija has expanded production capacity by a quarter and created 160 jobs as part of a €94 million investment that started in January 2019 and was completed last month.
The first phase of the investment was completed in 2019, while the second started in 2020 and was supposed to end by the beginning of 2022.

Early music festival kicks off in Radovljica

Ljubljana – The latest public opinion poll measuring how happy locals are with the work of their mayors in Slovenia’s 12 urban municipalities sees Slovenj Gradec Mayor Tilen Klugler receiving the highest mark, followed by Ljubljana Mayor Zoran Janković and Murska Sobota Mayor Aleksander Jevšek.
Seven suspected of distributing child sexual abuse material
Ljubljana – Police conducted house searches yesterday at addresses of seven people suspected of distributing child sexual abuse material online. The pictures and videos seized show foreign children aged three to 13 years, police told reporters on Tuesday.
Part of Italian military medical team arrives in Slovenia
Kranj – Six Italian military doctors and nurses arrived in Slovenia on Sunday to help the medical teams of the Slovenian Armed Force helping at Covid-19 hospitals. Another nine could not arrive due to the bad weather but will join them on Monday.
Basovizza Heroes remembered with calls against hatred, exclusion
Basovizza – A ceremony for four victims of Fascism executed in September 1930, known among Slovenians as the Basovizza Heroes, was held at the memorial site on Sunday, with Minister for Slovenians Abroad Helena Jaklitsch saying that it was a reminder of how much misery and pain humans and authorities could cause if they let hatred and exclusion win.
Climbing the bell tower in Kranj for stunning views
Kranj – The Kranj Parish has renovated the bell tower of the local St. Cantianus Church, the most recognisable feature in Kranj’s townscape, which was declared a cultural monument of national importance this year. Visitors are now able to climb the bell tower’s 163 steps to enjoy panoramic views.

Nearly 200 coronavirus infections confirmed on Thursday
Ljubljana – A total of 199 coronavirus infections were confirmed in Slovenia on Thursday in 1,841 PCR tests for a positivity rate of 10.8%. The cumulative 14-day incidence per 100,000 residents continued to steadily increase, standing at 92, up by four on the day before, show fresh data by the National Institute of Public Health (NIJZ).
