A Dutch journalist of Turkish descent who was briefly detained by Turkish police after tweeting critical remarks about the country's President Recep Tayyip Erdo?an has said her Amsterdam apartment has been broken into, denouncing what she described as "intimidation."

A total of 11 Syrian migrants, including children, have drowned off Turkey's west coast after a fiber boat carrying at least 18 migrants capsized off the Aegean province of Ayd?n, while new data has shown an increase in the number of migrants crossing to Greek islands in an effort to reach European countries.

Video footage has emerged showing Turkish fishermen in the western resort town of Ku?adas? rescuing a toddler in a lifejacket in the sea off the Aegean province Ayd?n after a migrant boat capsized on Oct. 21.

Two migrants were killed and 16 others went missing in two separate accidents in the Aegean Sea when boats heading to Greece from Turkey capsized. 

Turkey's Supreme Court of Appeals has approved the two aggravated life sentences handed down to a Turkish man who killed his Irish girlfriend's mother and one of her friends in 2011. 

A construction project in a natural botanical park in the Aegean town of Ku?adas?, which also includes the only remaining nesting site of endangered Mediterranean seals, has drawn reaction from environmentalists.
