UN Human Rights Chief Visits Crisis-Torn Macedonia
Ivan Simonovic's visit is the first to Macedonia by a senior UN human rights official since 1999 and he will be joined by colleagues from the UN Department of Political Affairs.
Simonovic will be meeting the country's embattled authorities "and other stakeholders on the current political situation as it relates to relevant human rights considerations," a press release reads.

Officials at the Greek Foreign Ministry were enraged yesterday at reports in the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM) that ex-US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright had suggested Greece may have been involved in deadly incidents last weekend in the town of Kumanovo.
Eighteen people ? 10 Albanian militants and eight policemen ? died after gunmen raided in the town.

Ahmeti, head of the junior party in the coalition government, said he found out about the police action as soon as it started, at 5am last Saturday - and that one of the gunmen who were by then surrounded by police called him, urging him to help negotiate a retreat from Kumanovo.
