Armed robbers target cash van, steal almost €1 mln
A dramatic heist took place in the port town of Lavrio, in southeastern Attica, on Thursday, as four armed robbers ambushed a cash delivery van and made off with nearly 1 million euros.
According to security staff, the suspects were dressed in white overalls and surgical masks and had been waiting outside a toy store for the van.

DEDDIE advances underground power cable program to reduce wildfire risks
The Hellenic Electricity Distribution Network Operator (DEDDIE) is speeding up the program to place power cables underground, while another agency, the Independent Power Transmission Operator (ADMIE), is implementing a program to connect islands to the national grid.
Wildfires blaze near Athens; flames engulf homes, cars
Two large wildfires were blazing in Attica Sunday afternoon. The earliest, south of the town of Keratea, has already burned through homes and cars, but no casualties had been reported as of 5.20 p.m. local.

Moderate quake rattles Athens
An earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 3.8 jolted Athens on Wednesday. No damage or injuries were reported.
The University of Athens' Geodynamic Institute said the quake had an epicenter 26 kilometers west of Lavrio in southeastern Attica and occurred at 1.28 p.m. local time. Its depth was 10 kilometers.
