Four mayors detained over alleged terror links

Four mayors from the Peoples' Democratic Party (HDP) in southeastern and eastern Turkey have been detained over alleged terror links, according to local media reports.

Iğdır Municipality Mayor Yaşar Akkuş, Siirt Mayor Berivan Helen Işık, Baykan Mayor Ramazan Sarsılmaz and Kurtalan Mayor Bara Akgül have been detained over suspected links to terrorism.

Car Bomb Kills Two Turkish Soldiers in Diyarbakir Province

Two Turkish soldiers were killed and four were injured in the town of Lice, in Diyarbakir province, when a car bomb went off while their military vehicle was passing by, Anadolu news agency reported on Sunday.

The Diyarbakir province governor's office said that the security forces have launched an investigation to find the perpetrators. 

Seven soldiers wounded in land mine explosion in southeastern Turkey

Seven soldiers were wounded Dec. 22 when a land mine planted on the road was detonated as a military vehicle was passing in the southeastern province of Mardin.

Gendarmerie forces were patrolling the area in the Dağiçi locality near Bagok Mountain when the explosion occurred.

Death toll reaches 33 in Diyarbakır tanker accident

The Death toll from a tanker truck accident on July 22 in southeast Turkey has increased to 33 with the deaths of three more patients in different hospitals this week.

Police officer Akif Çakır died Aug. 5. Two injured passengers, Özlem Şimal and Ahmet Şen, who were being treated in hospitals in Adana and Ankara died on Aug. 6.
