Late goals not enough for the Reds against Sporting
A disastrous first half for Olympiakos gave Sporting Lisbon the chance to conquer Piraeus with a 3-2 score on Tuesday on the opening night of the Champions League group stage. The result means that in a group with Barcelona and Juventus, Olympiakos is the favorite to finish fourth right from day 1.

Athens among cheapest cities in Europe for British
According to the Post Office Travel Money City Costs Barometer 2017, Athens is among the cheapest European cities to spend a weekend.
The cost of a weekend stay in Athens amounted to 210 euros, the survey found. This cost included airline tickets, drinks, a two-night hotel stay, dinner for two and city travel among other things.

Turkey will not participate in 2018 Eurovision: Deputy PM Bozdağ
A senior government official has denied reports that Turkey will end its protest against the Eurovision song contest and return to the competition in 2018.
"There is no such a thing at this moment," Deputy Prime Minister Bekir Bozdağ told journalists in Ankara on Aug 7.

Europe's Airport Travellers Face Long Security Queues
European holidaymakers jetting off to popular summer destinations are experiencing long queues at airports after the introduction of tighter security checks, Financial Times reports.
Airline passengers have faced queues of up to four hours at European airports, including Palma de Mallorca, Madrid, Lisbon, Milan and Paris-Orly.
Lisbon Revealed as Host City of the 2018 Eurovision Song Contest
Portuguese Television and the European Broadcasting Union chose Lisbon to host Eurovision 2018, reported BGNES.
The organizers announced that the semi-finals will be held on May 8 and 10 and the final of the competition on May 12.
Portugal became the host country of the song contest, thanks to the victory of Salvador Sobral at Eurovision 2017 in Kiev.
Real defender Pepe set to join Beşiktaş
Portuguese international Pepe has signed for Beşiktaş, the Turkish champion announced on July 4, bringing an end to 10 incident-packed years with Spanish giant Real Madrid.
The 34-year-old Brazilian-born defender Kepler Laveran Lima Ferreira joined Real from Porto in 2007 for 30 million euros ($34 million), winning the La Liga title in his first campaign.
