The ASE Index rose 8.5 percent to 927.13 at 4:30 p.m. in Athens, with a gauge of banks rallying as much as 16 percent. The ASE is set to close at its highest level since Dec. 8.
Foreign ministers meet in Paris on Ukraine crisis
Foreign ministers from Ukraine, Russia, France and Germany were meeting in Paris on Feb. 24 in a bid to salvage a ceasefire deal which has failed to halt fighting in eastern Ukraine.
The meeting comes as pro-Russian separatists kept up their attacks on the key port town of Mariupol and Kiev accused Moscow of torpedoing the deal.

Turkey criticizes Britain over missing schoolgirls
Turkey has criticized Britain for taking too long to inform it about three London schoolgirls who travelled to Turkey last week, possibly en route to join Islamist militants in Syria.
Deputy Prime Minister Bülent Ar?nç said he hoped the girls would be found, but that it would be Britain, not Turkey, to blame if they were not.
