41 Years since the Flight of the First Bulgarian Astronaut Georgi Ivanov

Today marks the 41st anniversary of the flight of the first Bulgarian astronaut Georgi Ivanov.

On April 10, 1979, at 8 pm and 34 minutes Moscow time, a Soyuz-33 spacecraft with an international crew was launched into orbit around the Earth: flight commander Nikolai Rukavishnikov and astronaut-researcher Georgi Ivanov.

Highly Polluted Air in Ruse, Vidin, Plovdiv and 6 Other Cities in Bulgaria

Dangerously high pollution was registered this morning in Vidin, Ruse and Plovdiv, according to a NOVA report on the European Commission's Air Quality Index portal.

In Vidin, measuring instruments of the Environmental Executive Agency reported a fine particulate matter concentration of 125 micrograms per cubic meter, which is more than 2 times the norm.

Bulgarian Economy Ministry: VOSS Automotive Plans New Plant in Eastern Europe

Bulgaria's economy ministry said on Thursday that the ministry's secretary-general met with representatives of German car parts maker VOSS Automotive to discuss the company's plans to set up a new production facility in Eastern Europe and the options to build the plant in Bulgaria, reports SeeNews. 

Code Yellow Warning For High Temperatures

 A Code Yellow warning for high temperatures has been issued for almost the entire country, for Blagoevgrad region the warning is Code Orange, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) said on its website.
In Blagoevgrad, temperatures are expected to reach and exceed 38C in the afternoon in most of the region.

Yellow Code for Cold Weather in 12 Areas in Bulgaria

A yellow code for dangerous cold weather has been announced in 12 districts in Western and Central Bulgaria for today, Feb. 24.

Temperatures in Sofia, Sofia, Pernik, Lovech, Gabrovo, Targovishte, Razgrad and Shumen will remain negative throughout the day. In the mountainous part of Montana, Vratsa and Veliko Tarnovo, the daily temperatures will also remain below zero, BNR reported.

Cloudy Skies with Light Rain Today in Bulgaria, Highs between 3° and 8°C

Today it will be cloudy with light rainfall. In the morning, there will be conditions for frost, mainly in the Danube Plain. The northwest wind will intensify during the day, moderate to strong, dissipating the fog in the lowlands. Maximum temperatures in the range of 3°C to 8°C, about 5 degrees in Sofia.
