In a new discovery made during ongoing excavations in the ancient city of Amos, which has a history of nearly 3,000 years and is famous for its rich cultural heritage in the western town of Marmaris, 10 amphorae (vessels with vertical handles) have come to light.

Nine people have been killed and 30 others injured as an intercity passenger bus overturned in the southern province of Mersin.

A thermal power plant and its surrounding town on the Aegean Sea were being evacuated on Aug. 4 as a deadly wildfire that has ravaged Turkey for the past week engulfed its outer edge.

Turkey has taken all necessary precautions to prevent any loss of life at the scene of a fire near the plant, the country's communications director said early Thursday.

Turkey pays tribute to a firefighter who died while fighting against a forest fire that broke out in the İçmeler neighborhood in the southwestern province of Muğla's Marmaris district, as officials offer to plant a memorial forest in his name.

For reasons unknown, fires broke out in forestland close to hotels and settlements in İçmeler during the early hours of June 27.

An Azur Air passenger plane from Russia with 212 tourists on board arrived in the Milas-Bodrum Airport in the southwestern province of Muğla on April 11, marking the first direct international flight to the city's one of the two airports which is close to tourism hotspot Bodrum.
