Djokovic claims Monte Carlo title, sets record

MONTE CARLO -- World's best tennis player Serbian Novak Djokovic won the Monte Carlo Masters as he defeated Czech Tomash Berdych in the final match on Sunday, 7-5, 4-6, 6-3.

Djokovic continued with excellent matches this season, and he reached the 52nd title in his career and the fourth triumph this season after 2 hours and 45 minutes into the game.

HOUSTON - Serbian tennis player Janko Tipsarevic had a successful start at the Houston Open, scoring a hard-fought win over Guilherme Clezar of Brazil 6-4, 3-6, 7-6 (9-7) late on Tuesday CET.

Romanian tennis player Simona Halep, ranked #3 in the world, was nominated for the WTA Shot of the Month for an exchange in the match against Carla Suarez Navarro in the Indian Wells tournament won by the Romanian.

World number one Novak Djokovic roared home in a 7-6 (7/3), 4-6, 6-0 win over Andy Murray on April 5 to claim a fifth Miami Masters title.
 

LONDON - World's best tennis player Novak Djokovic defended the Miami Open title and increased the score difference against second-ranked Swiss player Roger Federer on the latest ATP list.

Djokovic currently has 13,205 points, 4,310 more than Federer who skipped the Florida tournament where he reached the quarterfinal last year.

MIAMI -- World's best tennis player Novak Djokovic defended the Miami Open title as he beat Andy Murray in the final match late on Sunday, 7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 6-0.

Romanian tennis sensation Simona Halep, world No. 3, wrote on her official Facebook page that although she lost in the Miami Open semifinals, the match against Serena Williams has enriched her, as did the other encounters with the US champion.

MIAMI - The world's number one tennis player Novak Djokovic reached the final at the Miami Open, after defeating John Isner of the U.S. in two sets 7-6 (7-3), 6-2 on Saturday morning (CET).

MIAMI - World's best tennis player Novak Djokovic qualified for the semifinal of the Miami Open as he defeated Spain's David Ferrer in the quarterfinal match early on Friday (CET), 7-5, 7-5.

In the semifinal, Djokovic will cross rackets with John Isner of the U.S. who beat Kei Nishikori of Japan, 6-4, 6-3.
