Bulgaria Places EUR 3.1 B Triple-Tranche Bond

Bulgaria has sold a EUR 3.1 B triple-tranche bond comprising of seven-, 12- and 20-year maturities on foreign markets, the Finance Ministry said on Friday.

The volume is the biggest amount of debt issued by a country in the region of Central and Eastern Europe, the Middle East and Africa (CEEMEA) through a single syndicate of banks, the Finance Ministry said in a statement.

Wizz Air to Fly to Five New Destinations from Sofia

The low-cost Hungarian airline Wizz Air will start flying to five new destinations from Bulgaria's Sofia Airport.

From the middle of September Wizz Air will start operating flights from Sofia to Bari, Cologne, Geneva, Munich and Naples, daily Dnevnik reports.

The flights to Bari and Cologne will start on September 14 and will be operated twice weekly on Mondays and Fridays.

Strike of Lufthansa Pilots Cancels All Flights Between Sofia, Germany

All ten Lufthansa-operated flights between Sofia and Munich and Frankfurt are cancelled on Wednesday due to the announced 12-hour strike of the airline's pilots.

The German airline cancelled on Wednesday 750 out of its 1400 scheduled domestic and European, which is expected to affect 80 000 passengers, the Business Insider reports.

German architect Frei Otto wins Pritzker a day before dying

German architect Frei Otto was named as winner of the prestigious Pritzker Prize on March 10, a day after his death at the age of 89, organizers of architecture's top honor said.
      
Otto, renowned for designs which incorporated lightweight tent-like structures, had been informed he had won the accolade shortly before his death, a statement said.
