Army colonel arrested on corruption charges

Tanjug is quoting a Ministry of Defense Statement issued on Thursday that said the arrest came after several months of evidence gathering.

The Military Police cooperated with the Military Security Agency (VBA) and the Interior Ministry (MUP) to question several persons on suspicion that they committed criminal acts of abuse of official position and trading in influence.

Judicial independence row: "Citizen Vucevic spoke truth"

This is what Serbian President and leader of the ruling SNS party Aleksandar Vucic said on Thursday.

Vucevic is an SNS official who currently serves as the mayor of Novi Sad. His reaction to the acquittal of Bubalo - who stood trial on corruption charges - is seen in some circles as pressure on the judiciary's independence.

Belgrade gets new main railway station for domestic traffic

Serbian Railways on December 10 introduced a new timetable, making Belgrade Center Prokop the capital's main station for almost all domestic traffic.

Only three pairs of trains traveling between Belgrade and Novi Sad will from now on use Belgrade Main Railway Station in Savski Square.

International trains will also continue to use this station.

PM Ana Brnabic and Ukrainian Ambassador Oleksandr Aleksandrovych on Friday "confirmed the readiness of the two countries to improve bilateral cooperation."

According to a government statement cited by Tanjug, they also assessed that there were "great opportunities to strengthening economic ties between Serbia and Ukraine, especially when it comes to cooperation between SMEs."

Anti-Government Protests Continue in Belgrade, Novi Sad

Thousands of people gathered in Belgrade and Novi Sad on Wednesday evening to protest against the rule of President-Elect and current Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic, which they describe as a "dictatorship".

More protesters are expected to join the demonstrations during the course of the evening.
