3,6% more Infected by Coronavirus in Bulgaria than a Day Earlier

The National Headquarters responsible for combating coronavirus spread in Bulgaria announced Monday morning that 19 new COVID-19 cases have been reported in the country for the past 24 hours. The total number of infected has reached 541. The number of newly registered patients is 3.6% higher than a day earlier.

4th Day of Search for Young Man Missing in Rhodope Mountain

The search for Ivelin Uzunov from the Smolyan village of Smilyan has been going on for a 4th day in a row, according to BNR.

Many volunteers and a trained dog have joined the rescue operation. A bear photo trap has taken a photo of the young man yesterday in the morning near the village of Turyan.

Landslides Hamper Access to Bulgarian Resort in Rhodope Mountains

The Bulgarian municipality of Peshtera declared on Tuesday a partial state of emergency due to landslides, which are hampering the access to the resort Saint Constantine in the Rhodope mountains.

Three landslides have become active, which necessitated the one-month closure of roads from the town of Peshtera and the village of Debrashtina to the resort, daily Dnevnik reports.

Heavy snowfall blocks roads, cuts power in southern Bulgaria

Power supply to more than 800 locations in southern Bulgaria has been disrupted as of Sunday evening due to heavy snowfall now in its third day.

Some villages and towns in the regions of Smolyan and Kardzhali as well as the southernmost areas of Pazardzhik region have remained without water supply, too, as water pumps were idled by the lack of electricity.

Emergency Declared In Several Bulgarian Towns

Emergency due to overflowing dams and high waters was declared in the towns of Saedinenie and Peshtera, reports the bTV national channel.

Homes in Saedinenie and the surrounding areas are partially flooded by overflowing dams and rivers.

The critical situation in the town of Elhovo because of the rising levels of Tundzha river also remains.
