Britons Craig Gaby, his wife and their three children were on the beach when a message from the 112 civil protection hotline came on his cellphone on Saturday, July 22, telling them to evacuate the area.

Luxury hotel Rodos Park, in the medieval part of Rhodes Town, announced this week it has obtained a new identity and website (rodospark.gr) with "Philoxenia at Heart" as its central motto.

It intends to highlight the high-standard experience offered combined with a love for arts and culture at the historic five-star hotel. 

Holidu, a search engine for vacation rentals, has launched a campaign to sell winter accommodation packages in Mediterranean destinations to Northern Europeans, and drafted a list of the 150 ideal cities for winter.

Almost 90 of them are in Spain, with Greece following with 31 destinations.
