Turkish athletes bag silver, bronze medals at 2020 Tokyo Paralympics

Turkey's Nihat Türkmenoğlu and Bahattin Hekimoğlu won a silver and bronze medal in archery at the 2020 Paralympic Games on Aug. 30.

Türkmenoğlu secured silver after a narrow loss to the Czech Republic's David Drahoninsky in the gold medal clash of the men's individual W1 class.

Ambassador Amoiridis – 31-year sentence to his wife for planning his murder in 2016

The Brazilian wife of the Greek ambassador to Brazil, Kyriakos Amoiridis, was sentenced to 31 years in prison for his murder at the end of December 2016, as broadcast by the BBC.

The body of the Greek ambassador was found in the trunk of his charred car in Rio de Janeiro.

Pole vault: Tina Šutej finishes fifth at Tokyo Olympics

Tokyo – Slovenia’s Tina Šutej has placed fifth in the women’s pole vault at the Summer Olympic Games in Tokyo. The 32-year-old national record holder registered a clearance of 4.5 metres in Thursday’s final and then failed to clear the height of 4.7 metres to join the top four. US Katie Nageotte won gold as she cleared the final height of 4.9 metres.

Career highlight for Dvoršak at prestigious shooting event

Tokyo – Slovenian shooter Živa Dvoršak achieved her best ever result at Olympic Games after finishing seventh in the rifle three position in Tokyo on Saturday.

Gold went to the Swiss competitor Nina Christen, with the Russians Yulia Zykova and Yulia Karimova grabbing silver and bronze.
