Suspect in killing of Saudi journalist arrested in France

A suspect in the 2018 killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi was arrested on Dec. 7 in France, according to a French judicial official.

The official said the suspect was being held on the basis of a Turkish arrest warrant. He requested not being named in accordance with the French justice system's customary practices.

An Israeli ship attacked with unknown weapons

The information is transmitted by the Lebanese television Mayadeen, referring to "reliable sources" who were said to be familiar with the situation, writes Sputnik.
Sources said that a fire broke out on the ship and that the merchant vessel was "hit by an unknown weapon". No group claimed responsibility for the reported incident.

Turkish FM visits Saudi Arabia amid tension in Jerusalem

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has started his two-day official visit to Saudi Arabia after years of strained relations with the Gulf country since the killing of Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi in Istanbul.

The visit comes as Turkey and Saudi Arabia have stepped up to restore ties and amid the ongoing tensions in Jerusalem after Israeli aggression at the Al-Aqsa Mosque.

The Saudi Arabian administration has decided to terminate the activities of 8 Turkish schools affiliated to the Ministry of National Education operating in the capital Riyadh and other provinces at the end of the 2020-2021 academic year, according to information gathered by diplomatic sources on April 28.
