Iohannis: Today I have tendered my Sibiu mayor's seat
Romanian President-elect Klaus Iohannis announced at news conference on Tuesday he had tendered his seat of mayor of the central Sibiu city.
"Today I have tendered my Sibiu mayor's seat. It was a necessary thing", Iohannis said.

UDMR ethnic Hungarian party, a junior partner in Romania's government coalition, has decided to leave it following the defeat of Social Democrat Prime Minister Victor Ponta in presidential elections.
Yet, Ponta's centre-left coalition will stay in power as its remaining members - the Social Democrats and two junior partners - together control 332 of the 579 seats in Parliament.

President-elect Klaus Iohannis will step down as mayor of Sibiu City on Tuesday, December 2, the City Hall informed.
Klaus Iohannis has been serving as Sibiu mayor since 2000.
Klaus Iohannis Wins Romania Presidential Vote
Sibiu mayor Klaus Iohannis is to be the new President of Romania after Sunday's run-off, according to partial official results.
Exit polls had suggested Iohannis, an ethnic German, and Prime Minister Victor Ponta were running neck and neck.
Ponta has conceded defeat, according to Agerpres agency.

Corlatean resigned on Monday amid anger over long queues and chaotic scenes when Romanians living abroad tried to cast ballots at the presidential polls on November 2.

Romanian Prime Minister Victor Ponta is leading on Sibiu Mayor Klaus Iohannis in the first round of the country's presidential elections on Sunday.
The two candidates with the biggest result in the Romanian will face a run-off on November 16 after becoming the only two candidates with more than six percent of the vote.
