Tennis-Troicki wins his second ATP career title in Sydney

SYDNEY - Serbia's Viktor Troicki won the ATP tournament in Sydney, after crushing Kazakhstani Mikhail Kukushkin 6-2, 6-3 in the final on Saturday.

This is Troicki's second career title, after winning his first in Moscow in 2010, crowning his return to court after almost a whole-year break for violating anti-doping rules.

Tennis: Romanians Tecau, Mergea men's doubles finalists in ATP tournaments of Sydney, Auckland

Two Romanian tennis players, doubles' specialists Horia Tecau and Florin Mergea, managed similar performances on Friday; each of them qualified in the mens' doubles final of two ATP tournaments, in Sydney and Auckland, respectively.

Troicki through to Sydney semi-final

SYDNEY - Serbia's Viktor Troicki reached the semi-final of the ATP tournament in Sydney after scoring a win over Italy's Simone Bolelli 6-3, 3-6, 7-5 on Thursday.

Troicki notched the win after two hours and ten minutes of play.

He is next to take on the winner of the match between Bernard Tomic of Australia and Gilles Muller of Luxembourg.

Kvitova Defeats Bulgaria's Pironkova at Semifinals in Sydney

Bulgaria's No.1 female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova lost to Petra Kvitova from the Czech Republic at the semifinals of the women's singles competition at the Apia International tournament in Sydney.

Kvitova defeated Pironkova, who was the reigning champion in Sydney, with 7:5, 6:1 on Thursday, electronic daily Dnevnik reports.

SYDNEY - Serbia's Viktor Troicki reached the second round of the Sydney ATP tournament early Tuesday after beating Martin Klizan of Slovakia 6-2, 6-3 in just 48 minutes.

Troicki will next face Spain's Pablo Andujar, who beat Finland's Jarkko Nieminen 6-2, 6-2.

The prize money in Sydney is USD 439,405.

Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova Reaches Quarterfinals in Sydney

Bulgaria's No.1 female tennis player Tsvetana Pironkova won her match against Madison Keys (USA) in the second round of the women's singles competition at the Sydney Apia International tournament.

The score was 4:6, 4:1 when the American retired after suffering an injury to her right shoulder, electronic daily Dnevnik reports.
