Erdoğan slams West for ‘inaction on Gaza’

President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan has slammed Western leaders for their lack of response to the ongoing violence between Israel and Hamas, calling on Muslims to stand with the people of Gaza.

"If we don't raise our voices as Muslims today, when will we do?" Erdoğan questioned during a summit of the Organization for Economic Cooperation held in the Uzbek capital Tashkent on Nov. 9.

Rogaška Slatina – Rogaška Slatina will in June host an international festival of sports film of the FICTS – Federation Internationale Cinema Television Sportifs, recognized by the International Olympic Committee. It is the largest sports film event that attracts many global sports and film stars.

Bulgaria: World Champion in Weightlifting is Angel Rusev

Angel Rusev (55 kg) is a world champion in weightlifting. He won the gold in the ejection with 144 kg. After 110 kg in the throw, the Bulgarian finished third in the match. The champion with 260 kg became the Kazakh Arli Shontay.

This is the biggest success of Rusev's career, which took place at the world championship in Tashkent (Uzbekistan).

Turkish, Uzbek presidents discuss regional issues

The presidents of Turkey and Uzbekistan discussed regional issues and bilateral ties on Sept. 1, according to an official statement.

In a phone call, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev discussed steps to improve relations between their respective countries, said Turkey's Communications Directorate.

Turkey's foreign minister, US envoy discuss Afghan peace

The Turkish foreign minister said on July 15 that he discussed Afghan peace with U.S. special envoy for Afghanistan reconstruction.

Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu met Zalmay Khalilzad during his visit to Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan.

Çavuşoğlu tweeted that he "exchanged views on the Afghan peace process and regional developments."

Turkey bags 18 medals at World Weightlifting Championships

Turkey won 18 medals at the 2021 World Weightlifting Championships, the Turkish Weightlifting Federation (TWF) confirmed May 31. 

Competing in Tashkent, the capital of Uzbekistan, the Turkish athletes, including 10 men and 11 women, claimed six gold, six silver and six bronze medals in the tournament.

Turkish weightlifter Uçan wins gold at Junior World Championships

Turkish weightlifter Dilara Uçan claimed gold in the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF) Junior World Championships in Tashkent, Uzbekistan.

Uçan contested in the women's 81-kilogram category lifting 99 kg in snatch, according to Turkey's Weightlifting Federation on May 29.

She also claimed bronze in clean and jerk lifting 123 kg.
