Israel faced mounting pressure on Aug. 2 to crack down on Jewish extremists after a firebombing that killed a Palestinian child and the stabbing of six Gay Pride marchers drew widespread outrage.

Thousands of Israelis attended demonstrations across the country on August 1, two days after an ultra-Orthodox Jew stabbed six people at Jerusalem's gay pride parade, leaving one teenager in critical condition.
